More Than Sheep

Matthew 12:7-8

7If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.8For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:27

27Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.28So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Matthew 12:9-10

9Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

Matthew 12:11-12

11He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?12How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Proverbs 12:10

10The righteous care for the needs of their animals,
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

Matthew 6:25-26

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Matthew 10:28-30

28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Matthew 12:13-14

13Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.”So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

Mark 3:4-5

4Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?”But they remained silent.
5He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.”He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.

Matthew 9:36

36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
